This is more of a soundcheck than actual post. I don't really know if I will be writing anything here, as I have serious trouble keeping my other blog running (translationinprogress.blogspot.com and you're cordially invited). Or at least updating more frequently than once a year. Or two. Or...

Did I just see the last update and did it say '2007'?

Anyway, this blog was originally dedicated to sex and music, two most fascinating subjects that you can blab about without having any firm background in education or experience. I might drop something here every now and then but I doubt if anyone would actually read it, since blogs that haven't been updated in three (THREE!) years usually become more or less obsolete.

Still, I could use it as a bingstead for random thoughts.

Of sex and men - chapter 1

As stipulated below, this log will be concerned mostly with sex and its numerous aspects on the life of nations and societies... Erm. No. I do NOT have the ambition of becoming the second Alfred Kinsey. Nor do I want to engage in any serious analysis of sex and its roles. This is intended to be more of a set of loose reflections on the subject. Also, it might occassionally go rude and vulgar and those of you who don't like it might just go and fuck yourselves. Hahah. Well, I'll try not to turn this into a textual American Pie but, as some students in the EFL course said, one doesn't never always knows.

OK, enough of this crap. Let's get to business. Topic for today, boys and girls, is WHY IT IS BETTER TO HAVE A SEX LIFE THAN NOT AND WHAT THIS HAS TO DO WITH MENTAL BALANCE. Now, we could point out that the reasons for having sex rather than not are pretty obvious. The pleasure, the enjoyment, the prestige. True but there is also one other thing that I have noticed in my daily observations. Having a sex life is a blessing for your mental stability. To paraphrase a well-known saying: a shag every day keeps the psychiatrist away. I've done some observation (and yes, I do know that behaviourism is somewhat outdated) of certain people who've not yet had an intercourse. The results are obviously statistically insignificant but the hell with statistics. What I've found out is that people who maintain their virginity generally follow two paths: either producing some kind of ideology to back up the fact that nobody actually wants to screw them or falling into the realm of fantasy and making up of detailed stories of their would-be sexual affairs. This is really sad. The ideology underlying the virginity is usually of religious nature. Now I believe that there actually ARE some men and women out there who take seriously the vow of pre-marital restrainment. I haven't met any of them. The people I've met, though, declare their ideological position publicly and officially, while desperately trying to get laid when they think nobody's looking. The second type is even more pathetic. I won't elaborate on this further as everybody has at least one met these 'storytellers'. The general conclusion: condoms should have SEX IS GOOD FOR YOUR MENTAL HEALTH written in capital letters on the packets.

Mountains, Gandalf, I want to see the mountains again!

Well, it's just a week ahead, Gandalf. Seven more days and I'll finally find myself out cold :) The winter has not been very generous this year but let us hope that there shall be snow. Which, as we know, is only frozen water. Or water is only melted snow. Whatever. Nevermind. Anyway, I'm still pondering what this log should actually be about. Politics? No. Society? No. Sex? Erm... Yeah, I'll probably stick to sex. And death. Both sale well. But for the time being those of you who have accidently bumped into this blog (if such people exist, which is doubtful) will have to wait until some time February. Amen.

But due to having experienced a rather serious avalanche of translations, each of them being a week outstanding at the moment of their coming into existence, I will have to postpone it.
